Open Square delivers to first client on Rackspace platform

We were pleased recently to complete our first delivery of product to a client running on the Rackspace platform.  Historically (if you can say that about such modern technology), we have ourselves used the Amazon AWS platform and recommended this to people when asked.  Now we can add Rackspace into the equation too.

Both AWS and Rackspace Cloud are similar platforms.  With each you can start servers from images, and store data in cloud space, all under application control.  While AWS is more mature and has many more features, Rackspace scores with their "Fanatical Support" and ability to blend their cloud with private dedicated hosting.

To a large extent Open Square applications are, as you would expect, agnostic to their environment. We have deployed our products to PCs, servers and mid-range boxes running Linux, Windows, AIX, Solaris, etc...  However, to take advantage of the cloud scalability features built into our products, does require integration with the cloud provider.  We are pleased now to have created that link to the Rackspace Cloud.

For our first Rackspace-based client, it provides them with the ability to dynamically scale their Napier ratings engine by adding or removing capacity at a click of a mouse, or by setting up an automated schedule to match capacity to known demand patterns.  No IT involvement required.  And, of course, being a cloud platform, they only pay for the instances they use at any given time - a very worthwhile cost saving.

To find out how we can help you take advantage of a cloud platform, please contact us.
